TLDR: This newsletter is now called Root Access. The scope of these articles has expanded beyond just “cloud” for quite some time, so now the name reflects that.
When I started Cloudology last year, I intended to focus on cloud-related tech news from China. But over time, the newsletter’s scope naturally evolved to cover digitalization policy, data strategy, and more. The name “Cloudology” has felt incongruous with the focus of my writing for a while now!
That’s why it’s now called Root Access.
Nothing’s changing besides the name. (Well, the logo and color scheme too.) This newsletter’s focus is still on China’s tech policy. Now the name reflects this better. The articles I publish here prioritize government policy documents and domestic Chinese media as sources — going to the root, as it were.
(If your head is currently spinning from following the Two Sessions, apologies for adding some more confusion to the mix.)
